It’s calories in calories out, and how extremely varied your work outs are.

The body is very adaptable, and just doesn’t need that much protein to build muscle.

The number of calories (work energy) your muscles have to draw on, and how much they expect that type of movement/workout is what defines muscle growth.

Feed them well, and wildly vary the intensity, duration, and amount of exercise they do, pushing them close to “failure” (muscle exhaustion) at repeated but unpredictable intervals, and they’ll grow.

Endurance one day, heavy the next, light, then heavy + endurance, then flexibility, back to heavy, back to endurance, a day off, a day of regular, a day of tendon training, two days of endurance, double your heavy weight, two days off, light endurance, a new movement… Keep thise kind of patterns cycling around… And just eat according to the energy you need.
